Olive oil is known for its health-promoting properties. It is therefore not surprising that olive oil has been used to make soap since ancient times.
Here are the top seven benefits of using castile soap.
1. Perfect skin moisturizer
The Castile feels very clean and buttery despite the low foam. It offers a very moisturizing effect that lasts longer, making it perfect for people with very dry and sensitive skin, including eczema and psoriasis.
At La Sue, all of our handmade soaps are made in small batches in Germany, using olive oil as the main ingredient.
Unlike commercial soaps, our handmade soaps are free from glycerine and palm oil.
2. Gentle makeup remover
Olive oil based soap gently and efficiently removes makeup without irritating the skin, especially around the eyes. However, as with any soap without pH-neutralizing chemicals, you should avoid getting the soap in your eyes as it will sting a bit.
3. Antioxidant properties
Castile Contains antioxidant properties as we use olive oil as the main ingredient in our handmade soaps. Olive oil can repair damage to the skin caused by free radicals. It stimulates new cell formation, slows down the formation of wrinkles and gives the skin a youthful appearance.
4. Anti-inflammatory properties
Castile has an anti-inflammatory effect and does not irritate the skin. It helps gently cleanse even the most sensitive skin, including abrasions, rashes and even sunburns.
5. Helps with eczema and psoriasis
Castile is known to provide relief from skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
Because all of our olive oil based handmade soaps are vegan and only use high quality plant-based ingredients, they are free from harsh, irritating chemicals such as sulfates (SLE, SLES), parabens, EDTA, synthetic colors and artificial fragrances.
6. Extra mild and gentle soap
A 2008 publication in the journal "Paediatric Dermatology" found olive oil to be a suitable ingredient for creams used on premature babies. If it's safe for newborn skin, it's likely to be gentle on sensitive skin as well. It is hypoallergenic and only very rarely do people have an allergic reaction to olive oil.
7. Helps with acne
Castile is non-greasy and therefore does not clog pores, which is great for acne-prone skin.
